Are Republican candidates not giving Iowa the love it needs? Most caucus-goers remain undecided or willing to change their minds—which may have something to do with candidates’ smaller interest in the state, as compared to years past. The Associated Press says Iowa has been quieter this year than in past election years, as nationally televised debates have shifted attention away from the early-voting state. Signs include fewer visits to the state from candidates and smaller grassroots armies. No campaign has more than 20 paid staff in the state, and Mitt Romney, who spent 77 days in Iowa before the 2008 election, has spent just 10 days there this year.
