Iran said on Thursday that the global powers had created “a difficult atmosphere” by imposing harsh sanctions on its burgeoning nuclear program—which could stall the talks about the nuclear program, diplomats said Thursday. Iranian representatives are meeting with diplomats from the U.S., Russia, China, France, Germany and Britain in Baghdad this week for high-stakes negotiations, although it is not immediately clear if Iran’s demands have caused the talks to break down. Iranian media said Tehran is insisting on a “principle” of “reciprocity” for the harsh sanctions, and Iran apparently said it wanted immediate relief from the harsh sanctions as part of any deal for the country to stop developing higher-grade uranium enrichment.
