Iran Promises ‘Crushing’ Response if U.S. Designates Revolutionary Guards as Terrorist Group

Iran has pledged to dole out a “crushing” response if the U.S. officially designates its controversial elite Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization. “We are hopeful that the United States does not make this strategic mistake,” said foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi, in a Monday news conference. “If they do, Iran’s reaction would be firm, decisive and crushing and the United States should bear all its consequences.” President Trump is expected to announce next week that he will decertify the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal and designate the Guards as a terrorist group.
