Women in Iraqi prisons, the majority of which are from the Sunni minority, are being illegally held, and tortured and raped. That's the conclusion from a new report by Human Rights Watch. HRW says that the women were arrested to gauge their male relatives’ support for militant groups or to harass the males, as opposed to actual crimes committed by the women. “Iraqi security forces and officials act as if brutally abusing women will make the country safer,” HRW deputy Middle East and North Africa director Joe Stork said.
