This is different: The IRS would like you to hold off on filing taxes this year. Taxpayers claiming certain deductions are being asked to wait until the middle or end of next month to file because the IRS needs time to adjust to new laws approved by Congress. If you are claiming deductions on Schedule A, for higher education up to $4,000, or if you’re a K-12 teacher with out-of-pocket classroom expenses, the IRS would like you to wait until it says it is ready. The change is expected to affect 50 million people. "We will do everything we can to minimize the impact of recent tax law changes on other taxpayers," said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman.
