Republican National Convention planners breathed a sigh of relief as weather forecasts show Tropical Storm Isaac steering away from Florida's west coast and unlikely to hit Tampa. The storm is expected to become a hurricane tomorrow, endangering residents of Mississippi and possilby Louisianna. Earlier today, many residents of the Florida Keys began to make their way off the islands after boarding up the windows of their homes and businesses—a well-rehearsed ritual in the Keys. A smaller exodus began from the Republican National Convention in Tampa, the start of which was delayed Saturday due to the threatening weather. Gov. Robert Bentley of Alabama said that he would take a literal rain check on the RNC and would remain in his home state to face the threatening weather.
