An entire county’s public schools were shuttered today in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley region after a homework assignment, which had students write “"There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” in Arabic, drew a national backlash.
Officials in the Augusta County school system declined to identify specific threats, but said they had received a massive influx of angry complaints from around the country. Local parents have called for the Riverhead High School teacher, who drew the homework from a curriculum that also includes Christian material, to be fired. Watch the video above for the whole story.
