UN Human Rights Council investigators looking into potential war crimes during the summer war between Israel and Hamas will be denied entry to Israel, the country announced Wednesday night. The Israeli foreign ministry claimed the council’s “obsessive hostility toward Israel” would make the investigators biased. Israel’s decision to block entry means investigators will be unable to enter Gaza via the main Erez crossing, which is controlled by Israel. The other major option, via Egypt, has been closed due to conflicts between Egyptian forces and Islamic militants.
