Israeli authorities said a U.S. fugitive moved to the West Bank and acquired explosives with the intention of targeting Islamic holy sites. Adam Everett Livvix of Texas was indicted last month, but officials did not announce his arrest until Tuesday. He is wanted in the U.S. for questioning on drug-related charges. Livvix “told his acquaintances in Israel about his negative opinions toward the Arab population in Israel and his desire to cause harm to Islamic holy sites in Israel,” according to the Israeli indictment. Authorities said Livvix conspired with his roommate, an Israeli Defense Forces solider with U.S. citizenship, to acquire weapons, including three pounds of explosives. Livvix had moved throughout Palestinian-controlled territories, where he said he encountered a Palestinian operative who asked if he would be interested in assassinating President Obama. (He said he turned down the offer.) When police came to arrest Livvix, he jumped from his seventh-story window to a sixth-floor balcony.
