Israel Strikes Gaza With Two Rockets

Hours before peace talks.

Israel hit two Gaza sites that the military said is controlled by Hamas with rockets early Wednesday, just hours before peace talks between Israel and Palestine were set to begin in Jerusalem. Israeli officials said the strikes were in response to rocket fire from the Palestinian coastal territory in southern Israel. There were no reports of casualties on either side. The peace talks are being conducted with Hamas’s main rivals, the Palestinian Authority, who exercise self-rule in the West Bank, although many are skeptical about the outcome of these talks—especially as Israel has announced new plans to build settlements along the West Bank.
