Italian Prez Dissolves Parliament

The changing of the guard has begun. Italian President Giorgio Napolitano signed a decree dissolving parliament on Saturday. The motion is meant to make way for the general elections on February 24-25, and come a day after Prime Minister Mario Monti resigned. It’s not yet clear whether Monti will run for office, but he is expected to announce his decision on Sunday. According to polls, the center-left Democratic Party is on track to win.
