White House Source Leaks Ivanka/Jared Clearance Docs to House Dems: Report
LIKE A SIEVE
A White House source has reportedly leaked documents related to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s security clearances to House Democrats—after the Trump administration refused to hand over the paperwork. Axios reports the House Oversight Committee has obtained documents that supposedly shed light on how both Kushner and Trump were ultimately granted their security clearances. Two staffers from the committee are quoted as saying the documents are “part of the puzzle that we would be asking for” from the White House, “so we appreciate having this upfront.” This week, the White House rejected the committee’s request for documents on the process for granting security clearances to staffers—although it’s now reported the committee has had the documents since early February. They are said to detail who was involved in the final clearance decisions, and explain why Kushner’s clearance was changed to “interim” in September 2017.
