James Cameron announced Thursday that he will make four sequels to his 2009 smash film Avatar, despite previous reports of merely three. The first of the new batch of sci-fi films will hit theaters in 2018, he said, with the following three coming in 2020, 2022, and 2023. According to Variety, Cameron said each of the sequels will be filmed concurrently while also being four standalone pictures forming a "complete saga."
