Veteran political strategist James Carville has issued a harrowing warning to President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as a potential midterm bloodbath looms.
Carville, 81, predicted in a Politicon video that the GOP will get trounced in November, saying it will feel like getting “punched in the mouth by Mike Tyson” for Trump, 79.
He said he foresees Republican senators, who he claimed “can’t stand” the president, staying on the sidelines while Trump and Hegseth are investigated “to no end.”
“I don’t think Pete Hegseth realizes how much he’s despised in those five rings,” Carville said, referring to the Pentagon.
“They’re coming after you with your fake a-- macho bulls--t, bombing schools in Iran and c--p like that.”
Carville, the strategist behind Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential victory, argued that Pentagon insiders would feel emboldened to come forward with damaging information about Hegseth, 45.
“Everything that you’ve done is going to come forth,” he said.
Hegseth has repeatedly been embroiled in scandals during his tenure, including over the Signalgate controversy, in which he shared sensitive war plans on a messaging app; accusations of war crimes tied to the killing of survivors of a U.S. strike on an alleged drug-smuggling boat in the Caribbean; and the reported bombing of two Iranian girls’ schools by U.S. missiles during Trump’s ongoing war with Iran.
Carville said the Trump administration would have only itself to blame if a blue wave sweeps away the GOP, arguing that people have had enough of “the stealing,” “the corruption,” and “fake a-- wars,” as well as high prices.
“It’s over, dude,” he told Trump. “History and time have caught up with you.”
In an interview on The Daily Beast Podcast, Carville said Democrats’ double-digit overperformances in special elections and Trump’s flailing approval rating point to a potential 55-seat majority for Democrats in the Senate, where margins are already razor-thin.
Democrats have flipped 30 state legislative seats from red to blue in elections since Trump returned to the White House last year. Republicans, meanwhile, have not flipped a single one.
The president would become a “lame duck” and shunned by congressional Republicans because “it’s going to be apparent to them that you’re a loser and you’re a losing bet,” he said.
Democrats, on the other hand, are “going to go after your stupid jacka-- kids and their spouses and all the other bulls--t that you see,” Carville declared. “They’re gonna investigate the s--t out of you.”
The political guru forecast that Trump won’t “last” past April next year.
“Even through cloudy, stupid, fat-addled brain, you’re going to figure out, ‘I got to get the hell out of here,’ and you’re going to cut a deal and you’re going to resign,” Carville said.
