James O’Keefe, the conservative activist who targeted ACORN and NPR with hidden-camera exposés and was later accused of selectively editing the videos, is debuting a new movie this week at the Cannes Film Festival. Like a bad remake of American Hustle, a fake Middle Eastern oilman offers to give money to Hollywood anti-fracking activists Ed Begley Jr., Mariel Hemingway, and producers Josh and Rebecca Tickell for a movie. The filmmakers deny that they ever asked for the money, and Hemingway’s lawyer called O’Keefe a “coward” and “frat boy.”
