Move over, Charles Darwin. Jane Austen will be the new face on the £10 note starting in 2017, the Bank of England has announced. The new note will also feature a quote from one of her novels. The Pride and Prejudice author was chosen after 35,000 people signed a petition to urge the bank to have a woman on one of the bills. In April, the bank announced that it would be replacing Elizabeth Fry with Winston Churchill on the £5 note in 2016. Bank officials said they had already been planning to put Austen’s face on the money. Banknotes are redesigned fairly often to prevent forgery.
