“Tonight has been beyond horrific,” country-music star Jason Aldean wrote on Instagram shortly after a mass shooting claimed at least 50 lives during his performance at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas. “I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe,” he added. “My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night.” Video from the concert shows Aldean performing while shooting first broke out; he can be seen eventually running off the stage. According to Vegas police, the suspected shooter is dead after reportedly firing from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, across the street from where the outdoor concert was being held.
