In the annals of rapper name changes, this one is no "Snoop Lion": Jay-Z has quietly been moving to drop the hyphen from his stage name, writing instead as "Jay Z" in album credits and press materials. The hyphen first disappeared on his 2011 album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne. Jay-Z's name was changed in iTunes without fanfare, and now Billboard magazine has announced it's going with the new style after hearing about it from label sources.
