France’s Jean Terole won the Nobel Prize for economics on Monday. He was awarded the international honor for his analysis of market power and regulation. Tirole’s decades of research clarified “how to understand and regulate industries with a few powerful firms,” said the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm. His work including how governments deal with mergers or cartels and how they should regulate monopolies. Tirole’s win completes the announcement of the Nobel Prize awards.
