Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended his recusal from Justice Department investigations involving Russia and the Trump campaign, telling Time in an interview that he “did the right thing” when he delegated his authority to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. “I don’t think the attorney general can ask everybody else in the department to follow the rules if the attorney general doesn’t follow them,” said Sessions, who served in a senior role in the Trump campaign. President Donald Trump has publicly vented his frustrations with Sessions’ decision to recuse himself, saying he would not have appointed Sessions had he known of those plans. “He does get frustrated. He’s trying to run this country, and he’s got to spend his time dealing with certain issues,” Sessions said.
