Tapings of the hit show Jeopardy! will be suspended while longtime host Alex Trebek recovers from brain surgery. Trebek, 77, required an operation in order to remove blood clots from his brain. The condition stems from a fall Trebek experienced in October. “After two days in the hospital, I came home, started recovery. The prognosis is excellent. And I expect to be back in the studio taping more Jeopardy! programs very, very soon,” Trebek, who has hosted the iconic show for more than 33 years, said in a video message. “And I want to thank all of you for your concern.” Sony Pictures Entertainment said in a statement that the show will resume tapings in mid-January.
