Jimmy Carter in a statement Wednesday said cancer has spread from his liver after recent surgery. “Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body,” the 90-year-old former president said. Carter is being treated at Emory Hospital in Atlanta and promised a “more complete statement will be made when more facts are known, possibly next week.” His family has been plagued by pancreatic cancer. Carter’s father and three siblings died from the disease.
