John Galliano, fashion’s enfant terrible, has been suspended from Dior after allegedly assaulting a couple in a Paris bar and using anti-Semitic or racist slurs. “Dior affirms with the utmost conviction its policy of zero tolerance towards any anti-Semitic or racist words or behaviour. Pending the results of the inquiry, Christian Dior has suspended John Galliano from his responsibilities,” the company said in a statement. The exact details of Galliano’s confrontation are unclear: Some reports say he was heavily intoxicated while others say the couple sitting next to him at the restaurant began the confrontation by calling him a bum. The nature of the comments that led to his suspension is unclear. Galliano was detained and released by police Thursday night.
