Newly minted White House Chief of Staff John Kelly fired former communications director Anthony Scaramucci within hours after taking his post, White House officials told The Daily Beast. A senior White House official told The Daily Beast that Kelly viewed Scaramucci as a “hothead” who was unfit for the job. “Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team,” said press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a statement. Scaramucci had taken office as communications director just 10 days earlier. His tenure was marked by headline-grabbing scandals, particularly after he insulted top White House colleagues in a profanity-laden call to a reporter.
