Jordan on Saturday hanged ten men convicted of terror charges for a series of attacks since 2003 that killed a British tourist, members of the security forces and a writer. The execution was the first since two Iraqi prisoners were executed in 2015 following the release of an Islamic State video showing a Jordanian pilot being burned alive. The men were executed at dawn at the Swaqa Prison, about 47 miles from Amman, authorities said. They had been involved in at least six different attacks, including a 2003 bombing at Jordan’s embassy in Iraq, which killed 19; a 2006 shooting attack on a group of tourists that killed a British man; and the 2016 murder of local writer Nahed Hattar, who’d posted a cartoon on social media that was considered offensive to Islam. Another five men were executed for unrelated crimes, including incest, the state news agency reported.
