Judge Bans Broadcast of Mubarak Trial

An Egyptian judge on Monday adjourned the trial of former president Hosni Mubarak and banned the live broadcasts that have electrified viewers across the region. The courtroom had erupted into chaos two days in a row after repeated interruptions from the plaintiffs' attorneys. On Monday, the 200-plus lawyers from both sides got into an argument in the hall while the court was in recess. The judge said it was "in the interests of the case" to halt live coverage, but journalists will be allowed to attend the trial without cameras. Mubarak and his former interior minister are being tried for the deaths of more than 850 protesters during the uprising earlier this year.
