A U.S. judge Tuesday rejected the $760 million settlement between the National Football League and thousands of former players who claim they suffered head injuries, saying the money might not be enough to pay as many as 20,000 who could be eligible. Up to $5 million was available for each player depending on their diagnosis under the deal reached last August. “Even if only 10 percent of… eventually receive a qualifying diagnosis, it is difficult to see how the monetary award fund would have the funds available over its lifespan to pay all claimants at these significant award levels,” District Judge Anita Brody wrote.
