Judge Strikes Down Gov. Walker Law

Now that’s what some would call justice. A Wisconsin judge struck down the controversial state law championed by Gov. Scott Walker in a landmark ruling Friday. The law would have effectively ended collective bargaining rights for teachers and most other workers in the state. In his ruling Friday, Judge Juan Colas said the law violated both the state and U.S. constitution, and ruled it null and void. It’s not yet clear whether Colas’s ruling means the law—which has already been in effect for over a year—will be immediately suspended. A spokesman for Walker said he is confident the decision will be overturned on appeal.
