Hysteria caused Justin Bieber to cancel a televised appearance in Sydney, though the cancellation may have worsened the unruliness of the crowd. A crowd surge at 2 a.m. left several girls injured and 10 others suffered fainting spells. The singer and his famous swooping hair moved from the outdoor stage to inside the television studio, where he performed one song. ”Well, I guess the police say that you guys have to go home,” Bieber told the heartbroken crowd outside. “I mean, I’d love for you to stay and hang out, but we gotta go. So, talk to you guys later.” Bieber experienced a similar incident at a Long Island mall last year.
