Caleb McGillvary, the mop-haired wanderer who won fame online as “Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker,” has been charged with the murder of a New Jersey lawyer, Joseph Galfy. In a local news video that went viral in February, Kai described wielding the blunt end of a hatchet to save a woman from an attack by a maniac driver who’d given him a ride. Galfy, 73, who was seen meeting Kai in Times Square, was found dead in his home from blunt trauma. On Facebook, Kai suggested that he'd been drugged and raped.
