Captain Robert David Melton of the Kansas City, Kansas, police department was shot and killed in a Tuesday afternoon incident. Melton, 46, came to the scene to assist officers responding to reports of shots fired in the area. He was reportedly making contact with a fleeing suspect when he was shot through a vehicle window. Police said two people are in custody for the incident, while they are still searching for at least two other suspects.
