Taylor Swift has destroyed Kanye West’s chances of another debut No. 1 album on the Billboard 100 after the rapper’s latest, “Vultures 2,” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 this week, one spot behind Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” which is spending its 14th week in the top spot. Billboard reported Swift had sold 142,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 8 (up 98%), while West was tens of thousands away at 107,000 equivalent album units. Despite sitting in the silver spot, the debut is the rapper’s 13th album to reach the top two, Billboard added. The pair famously shared a tense moment when West stormed the stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, shouting over Swift as she accepted her award for Best Video by a Female Artist win in order to claim that Beyonce should have taken the title instead. The last album by a woman to spend at least 14 total weeks at No.1, Billboard reported, was Adele’s 21 in 2011-2012.
