Karzai Slams U.S. Over Shooting Probe

Afghan President Hamid Karzai slammed the U.S. on Friday for not cooperating with an investigation into the U.S. soldier’s alleged shooting spree, saying he’s “at the end of his rope.” Meanwhile, new details have emerged about the soldier accused of killing 16 Afghan villagers. A senior American official said the soldier was drinking and experiencing stress caused by his fourth combat tour. The suspect’s lawyer, John Henry Browne, told reporters he was distraught after seeing a fellow soldier get his leg blown off a day before the alleged shooting. Browne wouldn’t confirm whether the suspect had psychological problems due to head trauma from an earlier accident, but said claims that he suffered from marital problems were “nonsense.”
