Top o’ the morning to ya! Kate Middleton is in Aldershot, Ireland, today to present shamrocks to 40 members of the First Battalion Irish Guards at the town’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. The ceremony marks the Duchess of Cambridge’s first solo military engagement, though from now on she plans to have an ongoing connection with the regiment. Last year she and Prince William presented medals to members of the battalion on their return from Afghanistan. The tradition dates back to the first regimental St. Patrick’s Day in 1901.
