Not On-Brand With "Suit & Tie": Justin Timberlake’s once-illustrious fashion label, William Rast, has gone under the radar in the past few years. The line, which used to hold a giant fashion show in New York each season, is now sold in J.C. Penny and on discount sites. Reports say that Timberlake, who founded the label in 2005 with best friend Trace Ayala, is about to step away from the label. “Sources say Timberlake is still involved in the brand for now, ‘But by the end of the year he won’t be anymore,’” reports The New York Post. Céline Riffs on Geoffrey Beene: New York-based magazine Garmento has posted a blog entry that points out similarities between a Geoffrey Beene coat from 2004 and one of Céline’s new designs for fall 2013. The resemblance between the two garments is uncanny, with both coats featuring knotted sleeves in the front. It’s so glaring in fact, that the overlap has been circulating amongst Paris’s fashion design elite. “I must say I was a little shocked,” Karl Lagerfeld told WWD of first seeing the discrepancy. A spokesperson for the Geoffrey Beene Foundation told WWD that Beene has “inspired designers over the past several years,” and that the coat which was “recreated by Céline in 2013, was a signature piece of Mr. Beene’s and a representation of how timeless his pieces were.” Céline had no comment on the matter.
