Kate Upton Models Bridal Bikinis; Lady Gaga's New Look Will Be More "Toned Down"

        Fashion Cheat Sheet

        The Fashion Beast Team

        Updated Jul. 11, 2017 9:45PM ET / Published Jul. 29, 2013 10:16AM ET

Kate Upton Models Bridal Bikinis: Kate Upton models "bridal bikinis" -- because apparently that's a thing now -- for a company called Beach Bunny swimwear, which is designed by fellow swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen. The bathing suits, which one would assume are meant for a honeymoon beach vacation, can also be worn with a veil for people who want to get married on the beach. Teigen will be marrying singer John Legend next month, dressed in neither her own designs nor a bikini -- since her wedding isn't near a beach. [Buzzfeed]

Lady Gaga Talks New Fashion Direction: Lady Gaga is back after her health hiatus, and this time draped in a white Gareth Pugh coat on the cover image for her new single "Applause" (off her ARTPOP album, which drops August 19th). Of her new style, she tells WWD: "[I'm not] defined by the same designer or defined by the same hair cut or defined by the same icon. The statement is that I'm not one icon. I'm every icon. I'm an icon that is made out of all the colors on the palette at every time." But fear not: Gaga's styist and fashion director Brandon Maxwell ensures the singer will be wearing custom outfits by Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Armani, and Versace in the near future. “It’s more toned down and pulled back and chic,” he says of Gaga's new look. "But it’s also that we’re making suits out of things that they would not normally be made out of, like plastic, but they’re super well-tailored and clean. Maybe she’s just wearing a simple catsuit and a head wrap like she’s wearing here, but we sort of do the craziness on the face.” [WWD]

Cannes Jewelry Heist, Part Two: On Sunday morning, an armed thief reportedly stole around $50 million in jewels from the Carlton InterContinental Hotel in Cannes, ironically the set of the 1955 Hitchcock film To Catch a Thief. Similar jewelry thefts also happened in May during the Cannes Film Festival, where $2.5 million in jewels were originally stolen and then $1 million a week later. [NYTimes]

Seventeen Magazine Promotes Online Dating to Minors: "Is online dating the end of romance or the best way to broaden your dating horizons?" reads the headline of a Seventeen magazine article published last week. The answer, according to the author who is "jealous" of a friend who found her fiancé on Match.com, is that online dating isn't just "something older people do." Many critics pointed out that the magazine is targeted to girls younger than 18, which is the minimum age to sign up for a Match.com account. The article also failed to point out the potential dangers of online dating. [Seventeen]

The Paris Review Collaborates with Menswear Designer: Esteemed literary journal The Paris Review is surprisingly venturing into fashion. The publication will collarboate with British menswear label Orlebar Brown on a limited-edition collection of swim shorts for Barneys New York. The shorts feature images from past Paris Review covers, including William Pène du Bois’s illustration of La Place de la Concorde in Paris, Kim MacConnel’s 1980's beach scene, Donald Sultan’s orange floral print from 1996, and Leanne Shapton’s cover from the Spring 2011 issue.
