Katy Perry has always wowed us with her nail art (she wore Daria on her digits during Paris Fashion Week), but now her manicures are making a political statement. Performing at a fundraiser for President Obama on Sunday night, the 27-year-old pop star tweeted a picture of her “appropriate nails,” which featured the president’s smiling face, the Democratic donkey, stars and red, white, and blue stripes. Perry’s not the only one to pick up on the patriotic-nail trend. From simple stripes to a Paul Ryan pedicure, see more election-inspired nail art.

Even the Obama campaign is endorsing the election nail art trend (pins and T-shirts are so 2008). In the Obama online store, a $25 set of Richard Blanch of Le Métier de Beauté nail polish is available in three appropriately named colors: “Victory White,” “Bo Blue,” and “Red-y to Win Red.”
