Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has been re-elected, the country’s national electoral commission announced on Friday, three days after the presidential vote. According to the official announcement, Kenyatta took 54.3% of the vote, far ahead of his rival, former political prisoner Raila Odinga, who received 44.7% of the vote. International observers have reportedly endorsed the results, despite Odinga claiming to have found evidence of a “hack” into the electoral system. “Many observers fear a repeat of the violence after the disputed election 10 years ago when more than 1,100 Kenyans died and 600,000 were displaced,” BBC News reported.
