Kerry Flies to Israel for Talks

John Kerry isn’t afraid of the FAA. Just a day after the top U.S. airline regulator banned flights to Tel Aviv, Kerry flew in to try to wheel and deal an end to the violence in Gaza. Kerry flew from Cairo and went to Jerusalem to meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. He will then travel to Ramallah in the West Bank to talk with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. After that, Kerry is scheduled to head back to Tel Aviv for talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Kerry has backed an Egypt-proposed ceasefire to stop the violence so negotiations can take place. That truce was already accepted by the Israelis, but Hamas rejected it. Recently, both President Obama and John Kerry have raised concerns about the growing number of Palestinian civilian deaths, most notably the number of children.
