Khodorkovsky: No Political Plans

Freed former Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky said Sunday that he will not go into politics or recover his oil assets after his 10 years in prison. Khodorkovsky, who spent 10 years in a prison near the Arctic Circle after being convicted for fraud and tax charges, said there were no conditions attached to his release. Speaking in Berlin, he insisted he had not made any admission of guilt to receive the pardon. One of Russia’s richest men, Khodorkovsky’s oil company, Yukos, was broken up after his 2003 arrest and sold off, and ended up in the hands of the state oil company Rosneft, Russia’s biggest producer. Khodorkovsky said he would return to Russia only if he was guaranteed to leave at any time.
