After five hours of talks during a truce with President Victor Yanukovich, Ukranian protesters rejected a compromise deal from him. Yanukovich agreed to release protesters detained since Sunday and promised to convene parliament to discuss new laws limiting free speech and assembly. The president rejected demands for early elections, dissolution of the cabinet, and limiits on his powers.
