Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano has been erupting since 1983, but Monday was an especially active day. Scientists at the Hawaii Volcano Observatory say the floor of the crater dropped 377 feet over almost three hours on Saturday and a fissure formed between two craters on Kilauea. On Monday, lava was shooting as high as 80 feet in the air. No homes or people are threatened, but volcanologists have closed the area to visitors.
