Well, this is a surprise: Kim Kardashian appears on the cover of the third issue of CR Fashion Book, Carine Roitfeld’s namesake magazine.

Photographed back in May (the night before the AMFAR gala in Cannes), Kardashian appears on the cover flashing what appears to be a set of gold grills. In the inside spread, Kardashian appears in a spread titled “Miss USA.”

“Pregnancy is something that I always love. It’s about hope and the future and a new baby,” Carine Roitfeld told WWD. So it's no surprise that among other photos of Kim rocking a Yankees' hat or her lips covered in jelly, Kim's baby belly also goes full frontal.

CR Fashion Book commissioned a team of fashion heavyweights for the shoot, including Karl Lagerfeld as photographer and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci, who served as art-director. But Roitfeld credits the cover idea to Tisci, who's a close friend of Kardashian's beau Kanye West and who has defended her style in the past:

"I love Kim. Doing maternity was fantastic," Tisci told WWD after dressing Kardashian for the 2013 Met Ball. "I wanted to have a Kim Kardashian moment, because Kim always supports me. She is the future wife of a really good friend of mine. I wanted to have a moment of family … Kim, Kanye and the baby. It will be a family that I will be close to. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career."

On stands September 12, the third issue also features a topless Karlie Kloss, "Blurred Lines" star Emily Ratajkowski in a threesome, and, like Kardashian's cover, other shocking, yet very Carine, content.
