Amanda Knox tearfully thanked her supporters and her family on Tuesday when she spoke publicly for the first time since her murder conviction was overturned. “Thank you for being there for me,” Knox told the cheering crowd in her hometown of Seattle. Knox said the whole thing didn’t feel “real” and even offered to speak in Italian, saying that she is “having problems with” speaking in English. Knox’s parents and their attorney all spoke as well, extending their sympathy to the Kercher family while also expressing their happiness that Knox is now free. Knox has spent the past four years in an Italian prison for the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Knox’s conviction was overturned Monday, and the 24-year-old returned home to Seattle Tuesday evening.
