Kurdish Group: We Bombed Turkish Capital

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK) claimed responsibility for the suicide car bomb that killed 37 people and injured at least 100 on Sunday in Ankara. The militant group announced the claim on its website Thursday, calling the act revenge for Turkish military operations that have killed hundreds of people in the southeast portion of the country. The area is mainly Kurdish. In the aftermath of the bombing, Turkish airstrikes fell on members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Iraq, and the government called two people suspected of affiliations with the PKK most likely responsible for the suicide bombing. The two groups were once linked. The TAK also said it was responsible for a February car bombing in Ankara that killed 29 people.
