Budget analysts tie these costs to the greater debt facing the state of California. Other costs the city may seek to recoup include overtime for police and deployed special forces that patrol city parks and buildings. A representative from the Occupy Los Angeles movement accused city leaders of placing outsize blame on the movement amidst California’s greater financial problems. The Los Angeles protests, which are part of a larger nation-wide movement, have been some of the most turbulent. A police raid on Nov. 30 resulted in the arrests of some 300 people.
