An oil pipe near suburban Glendale, California, ruptured around 12:15 a.m. Thursday and spilled 10,000 gallons of crude onto the streets. Initial reports mistakenly had it at 50,000 gallons of oil spilled. The spill is spread out over roughly half a mile, and oil is knee-deep in some places. Two people complained of nausea believed to be related to the spill were transported to a local hospital. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the leak came from a 20-inch pipe and the oil line has been remotely shut off. When the pipe ruptured, a geyser of oil 20 to 50 feet high shot into the air.
