Law Firm Attacks Murdochs

Says James lied about its involvement.

The Murdochs are in hot water: On the heels of Clive Goodman’s newly published letter claiming that News of the World tried to cover up phone hacking, a media-law firm has now launched a fresh attack on News International. Chairman James Murdoch had previously said that News International “rested on” law firm Harbottle & Lewis’ advice that Goodman was a lone hacker at the paper. But Harbottle maintains the only advice it ever gave the Murdochs was in the form of a letter written shortly after Goodman had been fired, in which it warned that the former royals editor could potentially claim hacking was widespread at the tabloid.
