David Letterman announced on Thursday that he will retire from his hosting responsibilities on the CBS Late Show in 2015. Letterman has been the only host of the show, which has been on the air since 1993. The 66-year-old comedian announced his retirement during a taping of Thursday’s show. According to a transcript released by his PR rep, Letterman told the audience “We don’t have the timetable for this precisely down – I think it will be at least a year or so, but sometime in the not too distant future, 2015 for the love of God, in fact, Paul [Shaffer] and I will be wrapping things up."
