The labor agreement between the league's players and its owners is set to expire then, and if an accord is not reached, football fans may find themselves watching a short season—or worse, replacements running around the gridiron. That's what happened in 1987, the last time the NFL had a regular season work stoppage. The Washington Post's Michael Wilbon says the owners will have the upper hand in the battle.
